I use ChatGPT for work. Writing, research, code reviews, brainstorming — it's open in a browser tab basically all day. A month ago I installed YapCash to see what actually happens when you use an AI reward extension as a daily driver. Here's an honest account of what I earned, week by week.
Setup
Installing YapCash took about 45 seconds. Sign up, add the Chrome extension, done. The extension shows a small XP counter in the popup — you can check it anytime by clicking the icon. I didn't change anything about how I use ChatGPT. No extra prompts, no gaming the system, just normal daily usage.
My typical day: 20–40 ChatGPT messages, mostly work-related. I also use Claude occasionally for longer writing tasks, and Perplexity for research. All three count toward XP.
Week 1 — First pack, first win
Week 2 — Streak bonus kicks in
Week 3 — Slower week, still earning
Week 4 — Best week of the month
Month total
Two wins out of five packs — exactly on the expected 25% drop rate if you round up. The $5 Amazon card and $5 Google Play card arrived within minutes of winning. No redemption issues.
What I'd do differently
The daily spin is more important than I realized going in. Missing it resets your streak multiplier and costs you meaningful XP over time. I missed 4 daily spins in month one. In month two I set a reminder and haven't missed one since — the difference in XP rate is significant.
I'd also recommend not hoarding XP. There's no benefit to saving up — the gift card probability is the same whether you open one pack or five. Open packs as you earn them.
Is it worth it?
That depends entirely on whether you already use AI. If you're not a ChatGPT or Claude user, there's nothing here for you. If you are — and especially if you're a daily user — the math is simple: you're already earning XP whether you know it or not. The only question is whether you have the extension installed to collect it.
$10 in gift cards from behavior I was already doing. Zero extra time spent. That's the whole pitch, and it held up over a month of honest use.
Free extension. Real gift cards. Nothing extra to do.
