I use ChatGPT for work. Writing, research, code reviews, brainstorming — it's open in a browser tab basically all day. A month ago I installed YapCash to see what actually happens when you use an AI reward extension as a daily driver. Here's an honest account of what I earned, week by week.

Setup

Installing YapCash took about 45 seconds. Sign up, add the Chrome extension, done. The extension shows a small XP counter in the popup — you can check it anytime by clicking the icon. I didn't change anything about how I use ChatGPT. No extra prompts, no gaming the system, just normal daily usage.

My typical day: 20–40 ChatGPT messages, mostly work-related. I also use Claude occasionally for longer writing tasks, and Perplexity for research. All three count toward XP.

How XP works: Each eligible message on a supported platform earns XP. Daily spins and streaks add bonus XP. A Standard Pack costs 500 XP.

Week 1 — First pack, first win

Week 1
~420 XP earned
Opened my first Standard Pack on day 6 and received an XP boost (+200 XP), not a gift card. Pack outcomes vary, and the XP boost went back into the balance toward my next pack.

Week 2 — Streak bonus kicks in

Week 2
~510 XP earned
The streak multiplier started making a noticeable difference. I hit my 7-day streak and the daily spin bonus increased. Opened a second Standard Pack mid-week — won a $5 Amazon gift card. Actual code, delivered to my email within 3 minutes. Used it the same day on an Amazon order I already had in my cart.

Week 3 — Slower week, still earning

Week 3
~380 XP earned
Lighter AI usage this week — some travel, fewer work sessions. Still opened one pack. XP boost again, no card. Pack outcomes are random, and dry runs are expected. The XP from the pack went back into the balance toward the next one.

Week 4 — Best week of the month

Week 4
~640 XP earned
Heavy project week. Opened 2 Standard Packs in week 4. Won a $5 Google Play card on the first, nothing on the second. Also hit a 21-day streak — the longest streak bonus tier I reached. The daily spin rewards at this streak level were noticeably higher than week 1.

Month total

~1,950
Total XP
5

$10
Gift cards won

Two wins out of five packs was an unusually lucky personal result, not an expected outcome. Pack results are randomized and individual experiences can vary substantially.

What I'd do differently

The daily spin is more important than I realized going in. Missing it resets your streak multiplier and costs you meaningful XP over time. I missed 4 daily spins in month one. In month two I set a reminder and haven't missed one since — the difference in XP rate is significant.

Whether to save XP depends on the pack you want: Standard Packs cost less, while Rare and Elite Packs require more XP and offer a broader reward mix.

Is it worth it?

That depends entirely on whether you already use AI. If you're not a ChatGPT or Claude user, there's nothing here for you. If you are — and especially if you're a daily user — the math is simple: you're already earning XP whether you know it or not. The only question is whether you have the extension installed to collect it.

$10 in gift cards from behavior I was already doing. Zero extra time spent. That's the whole pitch, and it held up over a month of honest use.
